Dorset-based brewery Hall & Woodhouse has donated £1,000 to Bridport & District Citizens Advice through its Community Chest scheme.

Hall & Woodhouse, based in Blandford Forum, has been brewing Badger beers sine 1777. Today, the family-owned business operates more than 180 public houses and inns, both traditional and contemporary, across the region.

A strong sense of community is at the heart of the Hall and Woodhouse ethos and the Community Chest scheme is a way of putting this ethos into action.

Now in its 21st year, the Community Chest scheme acts as a helping hand to local people in supporting and strengthening their community, by encouraging charities and community interest companies to apply for grants to help improve their local area.

The Community Chest in 2022 included a pool of funds totalling £50,000 pledged by Hall and Woodhouse.

The Mayor of Bridport, Cllr Ian Bark, was recently invited to the Community Chest awards evening at the brewery's visitor centre, where he was presented with a cheque for £1,000 for Bridport & District Citizens Advice.

He later presented the cheque to chief officer Rovarn Wickremasinghe other members of the Citizens Advice team.

Cllr Bark said: "I would encourage Bridport community groups to have a look at the Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest when thinking about applying for funding for a project."
