A group of young writers from Beaminster School will celebrate having their work published with the launch of their creative writing anthology.
I Have a Dream will officially launch at Little Toller Books in Beaminster on Thursday (July 14) and is a culmination of a series of creative writing workshops for students aged 11 to 15 by charity, The Bank of Dreams & Nightmares, which offers creative writing enrichment in and out of schools.
The anthology is published by the charity's own imprint, with a foreword by award-winning author Max Porter.
The launch will take place from 6pm and attended by staff, students, parents and carers, as well as the team from Little Toller and The Bank of Dreams & Nightmares.
Janis Lane, The Bank of Dreams & Nightmares' creative learning manager, said: "We are immensely proud of the Beaminster writers, and I Have a Dream is testament to their engagement and the creative spark that is unique to young minds.
"It's a credit to Beaminster School to recognise the power and impact this kind of enrichment can have. Special mention goes to Naomi Gribler for co-ordinating the entire project with us, with thanks to headteacher Keith Hales."
I Have a Dream is the charity's inaugural publication, with another anthology written by Year 9 pipuls from Bridport's Sir John Colfox School currently in production.
The Bank of Dreams & Nightmares was founded by film producer Nick Goldsmith. The ethos is to offer child-led creative writing workshops, to listen to young people ages seven to 18, and learn from them. By offering small group mentoring, children are given time and space to explore creative process.
The charity focuses on under-resourced children, providing unique outcomes and purposes to their writing, which is truly transformative.
