The Beaminster Colfox joint sixth form is celebrating excellent A level, AS level and technical and vocational results.

Grades nationally have been awarded 'halfway' between 2019 - when exams last took place - and last year, when assessment was done by schools and colleges.

Adam Teasdale, head of sixth form at the Sir John Colfox Academy, said: "The students in the joint sixth form have been through a lot in the past two years. The summer exams were the first 'real' exams sat by the students and they all tackled a very long and arduous exam season with positivity, resilience and good humour. We are all very proud of their achievements."

James See, head of sixth form at Beaminster School, added: "Results across the board are pleasing, but we are particularly proud of the number of students going on to study at their first choices of universities and colleges, despite well-publicised competition for places this year. We also have some exciting progression on to higher level apprenticeships."

Amongst outstanding results for many students, some exceptional individual performances stand out, including:

  • Finlay Williams - A*A*A*A*
  • Lizzie Horniblow - A*AAA
  • Beth Dyke - A*A*A
  • Phlmaya Bhusal - A*A*A
  • Joe Maston - A*A*A
  • Abigail Rees - A*A*A
  • Maya Ford and Jack Ridout - A*AA (both with A* for EPQ
  • Hannah Erasmus - A*AA
  • Daisy Saint - A*AA
  • Jess Herbert - AAA

Adam Shelley, headteacher at Colfox, said: "It's always very rewarding to see students work their way up through school and become successful young adults at the end of sixth form.

"The results from the vocational courses with our partners at Yeovil College have seen many young people go on to fantastic opportunities."

Keith Hales, headteacher at Beaminster School, added: "This year we have returned to summer exams with all students being assessed on the same basis and grades determined solely on their examination work.

"The tenacious spirit and unwavering focus shown by our young people over the past two years is remarkable; they are always much more than simply a grade and we couldn't be prouder of everything they have achieved."
