Symondsbury Kitchen will remain closed until July 13 after a member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.

A member of staff started to show symptoms on Saturday and the team took the decision to close as a precautionary matter, awaiting the results of a test.

A spokesman for Symondsbury Kitchen wrote on social media: "Following our decision to close the café as a precautionary measure this weekend, it has been confirmed that our team member has now received a positive PCR test result.

"The café will remain closed until Tuesday, July 13. This is a decision that no business owner wants to take, but our visitors' welfare and safety is our top priority.

"Our café team is currently self-isolating and adhering to all government guidelines. They will continue to take regular lateral flow tests, which so far are all negative. During this time, the café will undergo a deep clean.

"All our other business teams operate within their own bubble, and for this reason, they will be open as normal. In addition, we are offering free complimentary tea and coffee in our Home & Garden store.

"We want to thank you for your understanding and support during this time and we look forward to welcoming you back soon."
