The recent rainfall meant it was too wet even for ducks in Burton Bradstock on Saturday!
Burton Bradstock Primary School had scheduled its annual duck race fundraiser to take place at the village playing field on Saturday, but the poor forecast meant organisers had to get a little creative.
Instead on a traditional duck race in the river, the event went ahead but on dry land.
Children from the primary school dressed as ducks and raced on the church green, having to fill crates with all the plastic ducks that had been set to race down the river.
The winning team were then awarded the important task of popping a balloon that contained names of all the entrants to select the winner.
While the race was somewhat unusual, it still attracted good support from children, parents and families, who also enjoyed a number of stalls, games and cream teas at the school.
