Bridport can un-cross (bun) their legs as the East Street car park toilet block is back open after more than nine years.

Thanks to Caroline Parkins of Leakers Bakery, the toilets are back up and running for residents and visitors to spend a penny.

The toilets closed in 2012 and after Caroline bought the redundant block in 2013, work began in 2017.

The three homes on the site in Kings Street were completed in 2018.

The development has been delayed due to the local government reorganisation, Covid pandemic and problems getting electricity to the toilets.

Bridport Town Council has taken over the running of the public toilets.

Town clerk Will Austin said: "The town council is very grateful to Caroline for her generous contribution to Bridport's local facilities.

"We're pleased to have taken over the management of the building and to open up the toilets for public use, after a frustrating delay caused by difficulties getting the electricity supply in place.

"The normal daily operating hours will be from 8am to 9pm and 7am to 9pm on market days."

Caroline said she was really pleased the toilets were finally open as it's such an important facility for the town.
