It was a friend of mine who told me I must try Beppino Gelateria's chocolate and banana bread.

So that's exactly what I did.

There was a great selection of cakes and treats - not just gelato - to cater for all dietary requirements, but I stuck to my instruction and ordered the chocolate and banana bread.

It was a thick, generous slice but wasn't sickly or too sweet in the slightest, and not at all dry.

All enjoyed with a coffee in the sun outside the West Street gelateria, people watching.

I will be back to try the other bakes and the gelato!
