Hundreds of brave swimmers took the opportunity to blow off some Christmas cobwebs at the annual West Bay Wallow.

The event, organised by Bridport Round Table, returned on Boxing Day for the first time since 2018.

Hundreds of swimmers, many in festive fancy dress, made their way down the harbour slipway for a quick dip despite the very cold water temperatures.

They were cheered on by a huge crowd of thousands.

Swimmers warmed up after the event with hot drinks offered the The Watch House Café on West Bay beach, which will also be donating £100 to Bridport Round Table.

Bridport Round Table chairman, Dave Cutting, said: "We are very happy to have been able to put on the West Bay Wallow again. This year we had an incredible turnout. Good to see people haven't been put off and are out in force embracing the cold.

"The fantastic weather brought more people out than ever. It was good to see so many braving the chill, and we saw lots of happy faces coming out up the slipway. Overall a very successful event."

It is hoped that the event will have raised more than £1,500 for local good causes.
