Weldmar's Light Up a Life service will go ahead this year online

Weldmar's Light Up a Life service will be a little different this year but dedications to friends and family can still be made this Christmas.

The annual service will be going online but Bridport residents will still be able to hang a dedicated star on a Light Up a Life tree.

A spokesman for Weldmar said: "Light Up a Life is an opportunity for our community to come together to remember those who are sadly no longer with us, whether they were cared for by Weldmar or not.

"Due to Covid-19, we are unable to safely hold our regular Light Up a Life services across Dorset, however, you are invited to join us for our online service which will be held on Tuesday, December 8 at 6.30pm, live on Facebook and YouTube. If you miss it, don't worry, it will be available to watch afterwards on our website."

Residents can make a donation and dedicate a light, or lights, in memory of someone special and in return will receive a special card, an eco-friendly wooden star to hang on the Light Up A Life tree at Groves Nurseries, or their own tree at home, and all names will be recorded in the 2020 Book of Remembrance.

They will also receive an order of service for the virtual service this year, which they can watch from the comfort of their own home.

There is also an opportunity for residents to create an entire Light Up a Life tree dedicated exclusively for their loved one. Once they have created a tree, they can ask friends, family members or colleagues to dedicate their own light on your tree, share a photo or a memory.
