Bridport is now home to the World's Strongest Disabled Woman after resident Lucy Beasley brought the title back.

She competed in Iceland after being named Britain's Strongest Disabled Woman this autumn.

Lucy said: "I'm so, so pleased to say I won my class and am the World's Strongest Disabled Woman - it's absolutely crazy and if I can do it, anyone can.

"Iceland was amazing, I got a new pr for the deadlift and won all five events. The arm over arm pull was a Range Rover monster truck used for driving on glaciers.

"It went really well and even better I managed to fit in some spa time at the geothermal lagoons.

"I hurt my knee a bit so I am taking a short break, but I'll be back at it soon and aim to do even better next time - lots to work on."

Lucy was left permanently disabled after a roller derby accident in 2013, which shattered her ankle.

Since then, she won Britain's Strongest Disabled Woman in 2018 and 2021 - having to miss the 2019 competition due to surgery and the 2020 event was cancelled due to Covid - the Arnold Classic (Ohio) Strongest Standing Disabled Strongwoman 2019 and the Arnold UK Strongest Standing Disabled Strongwoman 2021, Iceland's Viking Challenge winner 2019 and World's Strongest Standing Disabled Woman in 2018.
