The West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team will be operating high visibility patrols over the Easter bank holiday.

Along with teams from across Dorset, they will be in known incident hotspots in the local area, maintaining an enhanced level of readiness should they be called on.

A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard said: "We will also be providing safety advice to members of the public who request it, or to those seen to be putting themselves at unnecessary levels of risk.

"Whether you are local or not, a novice or experienced - the coast can still catch you out.

"Check the weather forecast, tide times and read local hazard signage, keep a close eye on your family, don't use inflatables and in an emergency call 999 and ask for the coastguard.

"Take extra care in these extraordinary times.

"If you encounter our team whilst we're on patrol, please do feel free to approach us - social distance allowing - for any advice, or to just find out a little more about what we do.

"Have a safe and happy Easter bank holiday."
