West Bay has been named among the most popular film and TV locations in the UK, as mentioned on social media.

After Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman were spotted filming the latest in the Marvel franchise, Deadpool 3, on an unnamed beach in the UK last week, Casino Hawks scoured more than four million social media posts for mentions of filming locations across the country to find the most popular.

West Bay was ranked fifth in the results as the famous location for ITV drama Broadchurch, with 277,923 Instagram hashtags mentioning the town.

Neighbouring Lyme Regis was ranked seventh as the location of the 1980s film The French Lieutenant's Woman, based on the novel by local author John Fowles, which famously saw Meryl Streep starring wistfully out to sea from the end of the Cobb harbour.

The town more recently was used as a filming location for upcoming movie Wonka and Ammonite, based on the life of fossil hunter Mary Anning.

First place in the table was Glen Coe in Scotland for its appearance in the James Bond movie Skyfall, with 569, 280 Instagram hashtags.

Others included Portobello Road in London for its part in the 1990s rom-com Notting Hill and the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire for Star Wars: Episode VII.
