Two West Dorset activities have been named finalists in the South West Tourism Awards.

Jurassic Coast Guides is a finalist in the experience of the year category, while White Star Running - organiser of the Run Jurassic event - has been shortlisted in the tourism event/festival of the year category.

Martin, of Jurassic Coast Guides, said: "I'm thrilled to have made it through as a finalist at the South West Tourism Awards.

"After winning two golds previously at the Dorset Tourism Awards, it's fantastic to be recognised again for my efforts during such a difficult year.

"This positive news is a great start for getting my business back on track and welcoming visitors back to the area.

"I look forward to continuing my work as a guide, supporting tourism along the Jurassic Coast and within Dorset."

The awards will be presented online on April 22, with a prior 'meet the finalist' event on April 13, when finalists and sponsors of the South west Tourism Awards get the chance to share their news and plans.

Up to five finalists have been announced in each category, but all will have to wait until April 22 to learn whether they have won gold, silver or bronze.

Robin Barker, director of services for Tourism Ltd, which manages the awards, said: "We so nearly cancelled this year's awards but are so glad we continued.

"The reaction from businesses, the stories they've told, and the innovation and inspiration we've witnesses amongst hundreds of small businesses has been humbling.

"We're so pleased to be able to play our part in supporting such a deserving and important sector."

The full list of finalists can be found here.
