West Dorset MP Chris Loder has said "action needs to be taken" on speeding along the coast road.

He met with representatives from Dorset Police, local councillors, including Chesil Bank's Dorset councillor Mark Roberts, and residents on the B3157 between Burton Bradstock and Chickerell on Friday, May 13 to discuss concerns.

Mr Loder said: "Friday's summit presented a welcome opportunity for members of the Chesil Bank community to share their concerns and share their insights with Dorset Council and Dorset Police on the key road safety issues along the B3157. I am clear that action needs to be taken to combat the excessive speeding on this road."

It is arguably West Dorset's most scenic route and very popular with tourists, but has been the location of several serious crashes in recent years. With concerns over the upcoming summer tourist season, Mr Loder decided to hold the summit.
