All Weekend: Rationing to Rock 'n' Roll

Bridport Heritage Forum's exhibition 'Rationing to Rock 'n Roll' continues at Bridport Town Hall, open until Sunday, August 20, The exhibition will take you back to the 1950s, exploring major events to take place in Bridport during the decade, as well as a 1950s kitchen, music and nightlife, schooldays and more.

Paul Atterbury will be visiting on Saturday, August 19 to talk about BBC's 'Watch with Mother' children's programmes, and his connection with one of its stars - Andy Pandy! Visitors will be encouraged to bring their own childhood treasures to show and share with him.

Friday: Bridport Roller Disco

Bridport Roller Discos will be held at BYCC, Bridport Community Centre in Gundry Lane (DT6 3RL) on August 4, 11 and 18, from 6pm to 7.30m. Admission costs £4.50 plus £1.50 for skate hire with free protective gear, and food and drink available.

Friday: Showtime

An evening of entertainment presented by Bridport Pantomime Players, on Thursday, August 10 and Friday, August 11 from 7.30pm at Salwayash Village Hall. Tickets cost £7.50 for adults and £5 for children, available from Carpet World in West Street, Bridport, or on the door (cash only).

Saturday: Vinyl Saturday Record Fair

Vinyl Saturday Record Fair – the critically-acclaimed music lover's event – returns to Bridport on Saturday, August 12. Organised and supported by the dynamic independent record shops, Clocktower Records and Clocktower Too, this event offers an opportunity for record fans and collectors to spend a day searching out hidden gems of all musical genres in the thriving market town of Bridport.

Visit the record market in the United Church, East Street, open from 10am to 3pm, peruse the charity shops' record collections and wander through the bustling art and antique centre at St Michael's Trading Estate to find even more record and musical bargains. Saturday is also market day in Bridport, with a bustling and popular antiques, fresh produce and record stalls.

Saturday: Burton Bradstock Festival of Music & Art

Six days of brilliant classical, jazz, world music, bluegrass and more with internationally acclaimed performers and a nine-day exhibition featuring some of the finest art and ceramics in the South West.

The art exhibition runs from Saturday, August 12 to Sunday, August 20 in the village hall. Admission free.

Sunday: Teddy Bear's Picnic

Bridport Carnival Week gets underway with a teddy bear's picnic on Millennium Green from 11am to 3pm on Sunday, August 13. Bring along your favourite teddy and enjoy the refreshments and community stalls, plus fun games and competitions.

At 12noon, the carnival royal party will be officially crowned.
