Works on an improved path to the disabled toilets by East Beach are now underway.

Kerb sets are in place and the path set out to make access easier alongside the West Bay Discovery Centre to the toilets. The ramp leading up to the disabled toilet will be widened and made more suitable for disabled access.

The works are being led by Bridport Town Council

This project is part of the Dorset Coastal Connections portfolio project, which received £5.6million from the Coastal Community Fund and is co-ordinated by Dorset Coast Forum.

Plans had been made for a boardwalk for East Beach to enable disabled access, however, following the competition of the flood defence works, Environment Agency engineers decided that an appropriate boardwalk at East Beach was not feasible or affordable.

The project was altered and the Coastal Community Fund allocated to East Beach was reinvested into this improved path from the Bridport Arms car park to the toilets by the Watch House Café.

Completion of the path is dependent on good weather so a date for when works have finished has not been confirmed.
