Funding from the Co-op has benefited 39 local families who have taken part in free activities organised by the Bridport-based Allington Hillbillies.
The Allington Hillbillies volunteer to maintain the Woodland Trust's Allington Hill and Allington Parish Council's Cooper's Wood and Field, benefitting both local wildlife and the community by keeping these green spaces open to all.
Residents of all ages, from babes in arms to pensioners, have taken part in the free Nature Club activities over summer, including big bug hunts, moth traps, pollinator games, collecting seed, making seed bombs, den building, decorations for the Allington Hillbillies' carnival float, crafts, leaf prints and much more.
A spokesperson for the Allington Hillbillies said: "Thank you to Co-op and thanks to our fantastic volunteers, who clocked up 78 hours of volunteering time."
More information about the work of the Allington Hillbillies will be available at their annual general meeting and barbecue this Sunday.
A £70 million investment means prices for Co-op members on a number of items have been reduced, providing valuable savings during the cost of living crisis; shoppers can now save £500 per year on average by being a Co-op Member.
In turn, 1% of proceeds from Co-op member purchases will go towards local organisations, such the Allington Hillbillies, Bridport Community Kitchen, Bridport Young Performers and Bridport Millennium Green.
