Bridport businesses: Will restrictions still be in place where you work after July 19?

By Lottie Welch 17th Jul 2021

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce the end of coronavirus restrictions in England on Monday, but many businesses across Bridport will be keeping some in place.

Wearing masks, social distancing and temperature checks may still remain in some of the town's establishments.

Robert Mühl, president of Bridport Business Chamber said: "We canvassed opinion from local businesses and it seems that Bridport is taking a 'slow and steady' approach.

"Feedback from customers and clients seems to be that they would rather continue to wear masks and with Covid cases rising, I don't think anyone will be taking unnecessary risks which could mean self-isolation for staff and the possibility that businesses will have to shut their doors again."

Let us know what you're doing and be added to our list for readers to know what restrictions - or not - are in place when they visit you.

Here's what some businesses in Bridport will be doing:

  • The Ropemakers pub - bar service will resume but drinkers will not be able to stand at the bar unless they are ordering, table service will end, screens between tables will remain, table capacity will not increase, the wearing of masks will be up to the individual, with some staff continuing to wear a mask, track and trace will be available but no longer compulsory
