Bridport Museum is launching a programme of fascinating talks about local history and stories on Monday, May 15.

Every Monday until the end of August, the museum will open at 5pm for the talks, starting at 5.30pm, with audience members welcome to enjoy the museum's displays and explore the grade II listed building in South Street before the talks start.

The museum shop also has lots of beautifully items hand-made by volunteers to browse.

Subjects will include the geology of the Jurassic Coast, local history and lives of workers in Bridport's industries, and a practical ropemaking demonstration.

The first talk on Monday, May 15 will cover 'How Bridport Began' looking at what we known about the town to the Middle Ages, by Bruce Upton.

This will be followed on Monday, May 22 by 'Living on a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site', questioning what makes the Jurassic Coast so special, by Vincent Sheppard.

A full programme is available from the museum shop or Tourist Information Centre, where you can find out about all the planned speakers. Each talk will last from 60 to 90 minutes.

The talks programme celebrates Bridport and beyond and raises funds for Bridport Museum Trust, a registered charity.

Tickets for each event are just £5, available in advance from the museum or on the door, with cash or card accepted.

As spaces are limited, booking in advance is recommended.
