Bridport Museum has reopened its doors and is now welcoming back visitors after lockdown.

From today (Tuesday) it will be open from 11am to 2pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 10am to 1pm on Saturdays.

A spokesman for Bridport Museum said: "You do not need to pre-book your visit but we recommend phoning in advance to check we are open if you are making a special visit. We may have to close at short notice if we do not have enough volunteers available.

"We want to make certain that everyone has a safe and enjoyable visit to Bridport Museum.

"To help ensure the safety and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteers, please read the visiting guidance pages before your visit."

Although the museum has been shut since March, the team has continued to involve the community keep the spirit of Bridport Museum alive.

Near the beginning of lockdown, staff and volunteers joined in with the 'between art and quarantine' initiative and shared photos of themselves dressed as their favourite paintings. They also asked the community to submit photographs of objects to be part of the Bridport Lockdown digital archives, as well as encouraging people to #BakeBridport and bake and decorate a sweet treat as a Bridport building, landmark or museum object.

The museum also teamed up with the Melplash Agricultural Society to share favourite memories of the much-loved Melplash Show, which had to be cancelled this year.

It is now encouraging people to become time travellers and unearth the history on our doorstep. There are two trails - one on East Street and one on South Street - to follow and find out more about the town.
