It is no secret that Bridport has a wonderful sense of community, but it is always so lovely to hear of some going above and beyond for others.

The team at Harbour House care home in West Bay want to highlight Simon Holland at Washingpool Farm for showing incredible kindness to one of its residents.

Staff at Harbour House explain that current guidelines for people in residential care continue to be quite strict and suggest that residents shouldn't enter 'high risk' areas such as shops at the present time. Coupled with family visits still being somewhat limited, this is still a difficult time for them.

Harbour House contacted Simon at Washingpool Farm - who delivers to the home six days a week - and asked if staff could bring resident Kate Taylor up to do some shopping as he had been desperate to for so long.

Shane Affleck, a manager at Harbour House, said: "He was so kind and offered to stay open solely for her one evening. After explaining that Kate cannot mix with others, he ensured that his staff went home leaving only himself in the shop for us to browse. He even took the time to ask Kate what she wanted to buy - peaches, plums and nectarines - and put them all in a line for her to browse with ease. He gave her a discount rate on her shopping too which we felt was very kind, Kate was over the moon."

When they had finished shopping, Kate went to look at the views and Simon invited her to come and see the pigs, as well as feed them.

Shane added: "He was so kind, he spent time chatting with us all and made us all feel very welcome."

Kate said: "It was so nice to be able to see the wonderful views that I have missed so much and to have met Simon who is such a wonderful, kind man."

Andrea Winfield, home manager, said: "The kindness that Simon showed to one of our residents was lovely to see, he really went above and beyond to ensure that Kate had a good time.

"We are hoping to be able to take some of our residents up for an afternoon tea soon."

Simon said: "It was so lovely and rewarding to be able to offer this service and make someone else happy."
