This year's Bridport Carnival royalty has been announced after closely fought competition.

The fun competition was once again hosted at the Ivy House, Groves Nurseries, and organised by ex-Miss Bridport's, Sophie Gibson and Jane Boulay.

The entrants participated in various fun activities, from designing a poser to learning some dance steps, whilst being observed by Dave Swaffield of Bridport Musical Theatre and Theresa Grinter, a dance teacher and Bridport Pantomime Players stalwart, as well as Sophie Gibson.

They were looking to see how they interacted with each other and were looking for quality traits, such as patience, kindness, inclusiveness, as well as creativity, decision making and leadership potential.

After a lot of deliberation, the winners were announced:

Carnival Princess 2022 - Willow Jeffrey, aged eight

Carnival Prince 2022 - Oliver Barnett, aged eight

Attendant - Maisie Grace Loveless, aged 11

Attendant - Millie Frampton, aged 12

A spokesman for Bridport Carnival Committee said: "Congratulations to them and we hope that they will enjoy participating in the carnival procession on the royal float, which is currently being constructed by Stuart Lovell and team, and leading the torchlight procession on the Sunday.

"We would like to thank everyone who helped with the event, as well as those who took part, and hope we will see some of them again next year, along with their friends."
