The crew at Bridport Fire Station is looking back on a busy year, in which they were called out on average six times a week.

From April 1 2020 to April 1 2021, Bridport Fire Station was called upon 335 times to attend a range of incidents.

These include alarms, crashes, medical incidents, helping other agencies, animal rescues, flooding, people stuck in things, hazardous material incidents and of course, fires.

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "The most memorable being the Wareham Forest fire which had most of us away from home for three weeks.

"We also saw new recruits join and probational recruits pass their final competency assessments.

"Bridport is a retaining station comprising of crews who respond from work and home when required, normally at the most inconvenient times. Whether that's tiling someone's kitchen, wiring someone's electrics, fixing water leaks, repairing cars, dealing with customers, cooking dinner, family time, in the middle of the night and most importantly, when you're sat on the sofa having a cup of tea.

"We would like to thank our employers for releasing many of us from work and to our families for the ongoing support.

"We also want to thank all our followers and the wider community for all your support. Thank you."
