Bridport Museum is reopening in time for Christmas, and for shoppers to pick up some unique unusual gifts and stocking fillers.

From tomorrow (Tuesday) the museum will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm and Fridays from 10am to 4pm.

On Saturday, December 12, the museum will also be open for the Bridport Christmas Cheer-Up market between 10am and 1pm when volunteers will be in festive dress and making Christmas rope on the ropewalk.

For those searching for gifts, the volunteers have been busy crafting. The museum shop is the sole stocklist for hand-crafted bags, coasters and bowls, all reflecting the town's rope and net heritage. Available in a variety of colours and sizes, each gift is unique, made by hand and created in Bridport.

To reflect the museum's collection, there are Jurassic stocking fillers - ammonites, Orthoceras and gemstone key rings. Budding archaeologists can hone their discovery skills with dig your own fossil kits and dinosaur skeletons to assemble. There are also traditional toys such as wooden yo-yos, catch cups and swords.

Bridport Museum's ropemakers have designed and produced rope people magnets and monkey fist keyrings. There are also 'make your own' key ring kits.

The museum's best-selling twine and yarn collection covers all sorts of purposes - gifting a gardener with useful balls of coloured twine, or using the multi-coloured candy twist twine to brighten up presents and parcels.

Take a break from online shopping and visit Bridport Museum's shop - you will be surprised what's on your doorstep and every purchase supports the museum's work as a charity.
