Delve deeper into Dorset's history and find out more about The Digby Girls and the Loders estate.

The Digby Girls, Jane and Pamela, will be the main talking point at the West Dorset Group of the Somerset and Dorset Family History Society Zoom meeting on Saturday, April 10.

Jane Ferentzi-Sheppard will be talking about the two Dorset girls' scandalous lives in the 19th and 20th centuries who hit the headlines.

Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, which starts at 2pm.

The Bridport History Society will focus on the Loders estate during its Zoom meeting on Tuesday, April 13 from 2pm.

Helen Doble will be talking about 'The Loders Estate 1799 - 1916: Victorian life in a Dorset village'.

Loders Court has seen a succession of occupants - three generations of the Nepean family with connections to Catherine of Russia, Nelson, a scandalous divorce, shipwreck and even Thomas Hardy, and that's just the Nepean family.

How did the village observe life at the court in the 19th century?

All are welcome to join the meeting.

Bridport History Society is also bringing out a new online journal. For more information about this, contact Jane on 01308 425710 or email [email protected]

Both meetings are free, but it is possible to make a donation. For more information, contact Jane.
