Fire crews were called after a car crashed and flipped on a country lane, trapping a person inside.

Both Bridport fire engines attended Pymore Road this morning (Thursday) just after 11.10am.

The car had skidded and collided with a bank, flipping the car onto its side and hitting the front of a tractor.

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "On scene, the casualty had self-extracted with the help of members of the public and no injuries were sustained.

"Dorset Police also responded and the road was blocked for a short time.

"As a rule of thumb, drive at a speed where you can safely stop within the distance you can see. In narrow country lanes you should drive as a speed in which you can stop within half the distance you can see. Also take into account weather and road conditions."
