Police and coastguard officers were called to help a man on Cogden Beach yesterday afternoon (Thursday).

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police were called at 12.17pm on Thursday, March 11 to a report raising concern for the welfare of a man at Cogden Beach near Bridport.

"Officers attended and the man was taken to hospital by the ambulance service to receive the appropriate care."

West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team was called just before 12.55pm to help the police.

A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard said: "Our flank team from Lyme Regus Coastguard was also asked to assist.

"As officers were arriving on station, an update was received via the police that the incident had been safely resolved.

"Take care on the coast, but if you find yourself in difficulty, or if you see something that gives you cause for concern, then do not hesitate, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
