Freemasons have helped provide a bed for a refugee family settling in Bridport.

The Bridport Refugee Support Campaign issued a call for support in funding the purchase of a new bed for the family's flat in the town - and the call was answered by St Mary's Lodge of Freemasons.

Appreciating the importance of the work done by Bridport Refugee Support Campaign, St Mary's Lodge manged to get match funding from Dorset Masonic Care.

The work of the local Freemasons Lodges has a wider remit and includes supporting the Masonic Charitable Foundation - the Freemasons' charity - which has announced a new £200,000 partnership with Refuge, a charity supporting women and children against domestic abuse and violence.

The grant on behalf of Freemasonry will help fund their National Domestic Abuse Helpline to support thousands of women and children 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
