It may have been a scaled down event due to the coronavirus pandemic, but residents and visitors still went all out with their creative headwear and to have as much fun as possible.

The Bridport Hat Festival Garden Party filled Bridport Millennium Green on Saturday, along with it wonderful hats - including on the dogs - music, fun and games.

The popular hat hurling was available for people to try out their hat throwing skills, Brit Valley Rotary Club served tea, cake and cream teas, dancing from Lyme Morris and live music from Paul Matthews, Bridport Broadsides, Lester Parrott, Acoustic Rooster, Hazel Williams and Charlie Barbour, and Aidan Simpson and Matt Benjamin.

Brian Atkinson, of Bridport Hat Festival, said: "It was a really good party - something that Bridport is good at!

"We ran out of beer and prosecco and there wasn't too much left in the cakes.

"Next year we hope to hold a full festival and there is a suggestion that it should centre on Millennium Green rather than Bucky Doo Square."
