Get ready for Jurassic Fields as the music festival returns in July
Excitement is building for this year's Jurassic Fields Music Festival, which returns with some great acts and as a three-day event.
Scouting For Girls, The Pigeon Detectives and Mad Dog Mcrea will be headlining at the July festival in Bridport's Asker Meadows, which will see more than 30 acts.
A spokesman for Jurassic Fields said: "After having to postpone twice due to Covid restrictions, it's fair to say that we are all excited that this year's event can take place.
They added: "After having the time to be able to look back and reflect on previous successful years of Jurassic Fields Music Festival, we have now continued to expand the festival into a three-day event, bringing live music to you on Friday, July 8, Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10 this year."
The Pigeon Detectives will be headlining the Friday night, followed by Mad Dog Mcrea on Saturday and Scouting For Girls on Sunday.
There is a new arrival coming to the fields this year, The Undercover Hippy. Bringing a drum and bass MC turned singer-songwriter Billy Rowan to Dorset on the Friday. Billy and the band's music is best described as politically driven acoustic roots reggae folk-hop with feel good vibes and a sly sense of humour.
There will also be Cut Capers on the stage this year and the return of Dr Meaker, who will be headlining The Big Top.
Another new arrival includes Holy Moly and the Crackers, fiery folk rockers from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, as well as some favourite familiar faces such as Shelby's Elbows, Psychadelaphant and Arcade Hearts.
The campsite, just a short walk from the festival entrance, will be open from 12noon on Thursday, July 7, giving attendees plenty of time to get settled in.
The spokesman said: "Jurassic Fields remains a not-for-profit organisation that is set up to support the incredible music talent that is predominant in Bridport and West Dorset. The long-term goal is to provide the capital to set up a professional music rehearsal studio to be run by volunteers, allowing the sourcing and provision of grants to give local musicians the chance to expand their careers.
"We also hope that the festival will act as a model for other communities to get the same idea in supporting their local musical talent.
"We wouldn't be able to put this event on if it wasn't for the support of the community that supports our event, as well as the continuous support from our returning and new sponsors.
"We invite you to come down to Jurassic Fields this year to enjoy our community, a range of music and good food to show how Bridport can put on an incredible event."
Tickets are now on sale and cost £50 for an adult weekend ticket, or £90 with camping. Find out more and buy them at jurassicfields.com
