Beach reprofiling works have been carried out at West Bay following recent stormy weather.

The Environment Agency confirmed that the flood defences continue to perform well and have reduced flooding to homes and businesses "on several occasions".

A spokesman said: "The buried rock core in East Beach is intact and provides a secondary line of defence if the beach is eroded. At West Beach, the new rock groyne has helped to retain the new beach and provide a buffer to large waves reaching the sea wall and promenade.

"Beach reprofiling works were carried out last week at East Beach to repair some of the recent storm damage to the beach front face.

"Both Dorset Council and the Environment Agency continuously monitor coastal defences at West Bay."
