It's been a successful few days for many of Bridport's businesses and stall holders since reopening on Wednesday.

We managed to catch up with a few of them today (Saturday) Bridport's busiest day, and see how they have been getting on.

Bill Moseley owner of South Street Antiques closed completely during the lockdown to maintain as much social distancing as possible but said the last three days had been good and it was great to have the market stalls back.

Lindsey Cumpstone, owner of The Trading Post said it had also been a great three days since reopening.

"Lots of locals have been saying they are doing their shopping in local, independent shops I Bridport," she said, "they are very careful and supportive."

Chilli By The Sea was getting a lot of custom, with people queuing outside the door and the team there were very pleased to be back open.

Bayside Bakery's online orders have gone "through the roof" and they will also be offering delicious brownies at Bridport Market.

Vicky Ashford, of Smoking Loom, had a market stall with Diana Parker Ceramics, said it had been a bit slow but they had a lot of positive feedback.

Sarah Smith, of Sarah Smith Gardening, was also there who said she was able to continue working throughout the lockdowns.

She said: "It's been good as people have been isolating and customers are happy for me to go into their garden. I have also been able to drop of milk and things to them."

Gill Crump of Instant Redress also reopened on Wednesday.

She said: "It's been very gratifying to see a lot of new people who said they didn't realise we did all this. The majority of people have been so pleased with what they have found in Bridport as a whole. If they want us to continue as a quirky little place, then they have to support us.

"Supermarkets have done very well this year and it would be so lovely for them to give back to the town, like new Christmas lights, although too late for this year, but something that would help lift the spirits of everyone.

"If you need something to put a smile on someone's face, this is the place."

Louise Goligher set up A Little Bit of Everything and now has a market stall on Downes Street, where she is every Saturday, weather permitting.

"People have been buying lots of cards and have started panicking as it's nearly Christmas and buying gifts."

Doug Chalk, who sells his Colmers Hill calendars under his red gazebo at the market has had one of his best weeks yet, selling 40 calendars just today (Saturday).

He said: "It has been phenomenal. I had to go home and get more calendars and some people bought three.

"I have ordered another 100 to be printed from Advantage Digital Print.

"I am staggered, absolutely flabbergasted - I only have eight left."
