Three 'local heroes' have been recognised and rewarded for making a difference in the community.

Bridport Morrisons Community Champion, Keira Tait, has had the pleasure of visiting them and presenting them with gifts.

She said: "Our latest campaign, 'Seeds of Hope', had several activity points to it. Not only giving away 2.75million packets of cornflower seeds, using paper chains to act as messages of hope, but also recognising local heroes within the community.

"Moments of Hope aims to spread kindness and show we care by celebrating those that make a difference within our communities."

And Keira had the pleasure of presenting a little token of appreciation to three local heroes.

She added: "Firstly I visited 1st West Bay Sea Scouts, the cub division, and presented Allen Northover with a hamper. Allen was nominated for an award as he gives a lot of his spare time to the troops. He is the Scout leader and also volunteers to help the cubs. The troop are just starting to enjoy their summer down on the water. Allen is also a key worker and worked all through the pandemic. The children were happy to see their leader receive recognition for all he does.

"Secondly, I paid a visit to Bridport Primary School. Two of its staff run a charity bingo all in their own time and the recipients are local charities/causes. Gill East and Anne Taylor run a popular bingo session once a month with all proceeds being passed to local causes. Recently raising over £1,200 towards the purchase of an electric wheelchair for a local lady in need. They were very humbled to be recognised."
