Three crews were sent to put out a large vehicle fire yesterday evening (Wednesday)

Both engines from Bridport and a water carrier from Beaminster Fire Station were sent just before 10.20pm to the fire between Bradpole and Loders.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "On arrival, crews found a large flat-bed vehicle well alight in a field.

"Bridport's 4x4 appliance made its way off road to the fire and set up an initial attack with two hose reel jets.

"Once the water carrier was in place, multiple lengths of 70mm hose were laid out and using a light portable pump, it supplied its 10,000 litres of water to the 4x4 appliance allowing crews to use two main lines to extinguish the fire.

"Dorset Police were requested to attend."

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "At 11.50pm on Wednesday, June 16, Dorset Police received a report from fire service of a large agricultural vehicles on fire.

"There was nothing to suggest that there were any suspicious circumstances."
