Tiers set to be announced today - here's what each tier will mean for Bridport

Bridport will find out later today which tier Dorset will be in when Boris Johnson makes the announcement.

It's anticipated the tiers will be tougher than before the lockdown and the majority of areas will be place in the higher Tier Two or Three.

How will the different tiers affect Bridport?

Meeting family and friends

Tier One: Maximum of six indoors or outdoors apart from with members of a single household or support bubble.

Tier Two: No mixing of households indoors, apart from support bubbles. Maximum of six outdoors.

Tier Three: No mixing of households indoors or most outdoor places, apart from support bubbles. Maximum of six in some outdoor public spaces (parks, public gardens).

Bars, pubs and restaurants

Tier One: They will be open but must be table service only and stop taking orders at 10pm and close at 11pm.

Tier Two: Pubs and bars must close unless offering meals. Hospitality venues can only serve alcohol with substantial meals and must also stop taking orders at 10pm and close at 11pm.

Tier Three: Hospitality is closed with the exception of sales by takeaway, drive-through or delivery.

Retail

Tier One: All shops, including those deemed non-essential, can be open.

Tier Two: All shops can be open.

Tier Three: All shops can open.

Work and business

Tier One: Everyone who can work from home should do.

Tier Two: Everyone who can work from home should do.

Tier Three: Everyone who can work from home should do.

Education

Tier One: Early years, schools, colleges and universities will remain open. Childcare, other supervised activities for children and childcare bubbles are permitted.

Tier Two: Hairdressers, salons and barbers will be open.

Tier Three: Hairdressers, salons and barbers will be open.

Overnight stays

Tier One: Overnight stays are permitted with household support bubble or up to six people.

Tier Two: Overnight stays are permitted with household or support bubble.

Tier Three: Overnight stays are advised against other than with your household or support bubble.

Weddings and funerals

Tier One: Weddings, civil partnerships, wedding receptions and wakes can have up to 15 guests. Funerals can have up to 30.

Tier Two: Weddings, civil partnerships, wedding receptions and wakes can have up to 15 guests. Funerals can have up to 30.

Tier Three: Weddings, civil partnerships and wakes can have up to 15 guests and 30 guests at funerals. Wedding receptions are not permitted.

Entertainment

Tier One: Theatres and cinemas can open.

Tier Two: Entertainment venues can open.

Tier Three: Entertainment venues are closed.

Places of worship

Tier One: They will be open but you cannot interact with more than six people.

Tier Two: They can open but you cannot interact with anyone outside of your household or bubble.

Tier Three: They can open but you cannot interact with anyone outside of your household or bubble.

Travelling

Tier One: Walk or cycle if possible and plan ahead to avoid busy times and routes on public transport. Avoid car sharing with those outside of your household or support bubble. Avoid travelling into a Tier Three area other than where necessary as for work or education. Further exemptions apply.

Tier Three: Classes and organised adult sport can take place outdoors, but people should avoid higher-risk contact activity. Group exercise activities and sports indoors should not take place unless with your household or support bubble. Organised activities for elite athletes, under 18s and disabled people can continue.

Residential care

Tier One: Covid-secure arrangements such as screens, visiting pods and window visits are permitted. Outdoor/airtight visits only until the rollout of rapid testing will enable indoor visits including contact.

Tier Three: Events should not take place. Drive-in events are permitted.
