Under the spotlight: Rachel's - West Bay

Rachel's in West Bay has been a popular spot for lunch ever since I can remember.

Despite it operating out of a kiosk, tables need to be booked in advance and can go very, very quickly, especially if its seafood platter is on offer.

I thought I would chance it without a booking one grey weekday for lunch - and although it was drizzling there were still a few tables there enjoy

With offerings such as fish stew, fish chowder, tempura prawns, hand-picked West Bay crab, salt and pepper squid, as well as fish finger bap, cheesy garlic mushrooms, local butchers' sausages and dirty chips, it's no wonder it's always a busy spot, with something to suit all.

I opted for the homemade fresh fish of the day with homemade tartare sauce and chunky chips to take away.

It was fresh, light and not greasy at all, with some of the best tartare sauce I have had and the chips were crispy but fluffy - perfect.

It goes to show it is also not just a choice for a sunny day and can be enjoyed in all weathers.

So, if you get the chance - make sure you book in advance - head down and enjoy a delicious meal.
