A 20-year-old Bridport woman has been arrested after reportedly driving at another woman and assaulting her.

It was reported that between 2pm and 2.10pm on Wednesday, February 23, the victim - a local woman aged in her 20s - was walking along St Swithins Road when a car drove toward her, pushing her into a nearby fence.

The female driver of the car got out of the vehicle and it is alleged that she assaulted the victim.

The victim sustained bruising to her hip and a serious injury to the area around her eye that required medical treatment.

A 20-year-old woman from Bridport was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Kate Rhodes, of Dorset County CID, said: "I am appealing to anyone in the vicinity who witnessed what happened to please come forward.

"I am particularly keen to speak to two men who were in the area at the time as they may have important information to help our enquiries. One of the men was walking a dog.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam or on a helmet camera."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/do-it-online, via email [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting incident number 55220030937.
