Quotes are now being sought for the renovation of a play area in Upper Walditch, near Bridport.

Bothenhampton and Walditch Pariah Council s looking for a contractor to move wood chippings, re-configure timber edging and turf areas in he John Gundry play park.

The play area comprises a parcel of land, surrounded by trees, close to the village green.

Access is via a gravel track which also gives access to some fields. The entrance gate opening to the play area is approximately 1.8m. Sections of fence can be removed to enable access to the site as long as they are replaced to a safe and satisfactory condition.

The play area has an open area of grass with two football nets and a dedicated area where a climbing structure, swings and various other climbing/riding play equipment are located.

Currently this dedicated area is covered with wood chippings contained within a raised timber edging. The purpose of the chippings is to protect children using the various play equipment.

The parish council now wishes to modify the equipment play area as follows:

1.    Move all the wood chippings to an area underneath the swings.

2.    Re-configure the timber edging to contain this area of chippings.

3.    Prepare the surface previously covered by the chippings to receive turfs.

4.    Cover this area with turfs.

5.     There will be no requirement to move any of the play equipment.

Quotes are invited to carry out this work, including supply of turfs. It is expected that the raised timber removed can be used for the modification. All remaining timber should be removed from site as part of the contract.

Contractors interested in bidding can visit the site with a representative of the parish council. Those interested should contact [email protected]
