With local beaches currently very busy and thousands of people visiting the coast, members of the public are being urged to stay away from the recent cliff fall near Seatown.

A large section of cliff fell between Seatown and Eype on Saturday afternoon, following two large falls in the same area in April.

A spokesman of Dorset Council said: "There is no access along the beach between Eype and Seatown due to another cliff fall. Please obey the safety signs and do not cross the cordons.

"We are monitoring the cliff for further movement. The debris on the beach is not safe to climb on."

West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked by Solent Coastguard at 9.15pm on Saturday to help local authorities with the aftermath of the cliff fall.

A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard said: "As officers were assembling at the station, an update was received by dolent coastguard and the team was stood down.

"There is currently no access along the beach between Eype and Seatown due to the recent cliff fall.

"Please take not of all the safety signage and do not attempt to climb over the debris which remains unstable.

"Have a fantastic time at the coast this summer, but if you find yourself in difficulty or if you see something that gives you cause for concern, then do not hesitate, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
