Community urged to support Bridport businesses and each other

Bridport Business Chamber is offering its support to local business during the latest lockdown.

The community is encouraged to once again come together and support each other, as well as supporting local businesses.

Robert Muhl, president of Bridport Business Chamber, said: "We understand the good reasons for the latest lockdown, but this must be a devastating development for many businesses which have struggled, but so far managed to keep going during the pandemic.

"We have seen over the past 10 months that members of the Bridport Business community are strong, inventive and very willing to make changes in the way they serve their clients and customers.

"The business chamber is here to help and share our experiences, good and bad. We would ask everyone in the Bridport area to obey the lockdown rules and continue to support local businesses in any way they can.

"Let's hope the restrictions can be lifted sooner rather than later."

Bridport mayor, councillor Ian Bark, said it is more important than ever that we work tirelessly to maintain the health and wellbeing of every member of our community.

"I don't think there can possibly be one person in our community today that has not felt the weight of last night's announcement or the anxiety that it will inevitably bring and my thoughts are with you," he said.

"As a community we have been very successful at keeping the number of Covid-19 infections very low thus far and it is vital that we redouble our safe practices in order to ensure that remains to be the case.

"The past year has taught us a great deal about how to cope and support each other. No matter how challenging you find your circumstances, support is out there for you.

"Bridport has its own community support helpline that can either arrange support for those needing help with food, prescriptions, health and wellbeing, or can put you in touch with the right people for other types of support."

The helpline number is 01308 808900 or email [email protected]

Guidance on the restrictions can be found here.

Also remember, hands, face and space, ensuring you regularly wash your hands, cover your face and maintain 2m distance from others.
