Bridport Charter Fair announces winners of community awards

Bridport Community Charter Fair have announced the winners of its two awards for outstanding service to the community.

The Charter Fair Trophy is presented annually to a group or organisation, last year going to them team of volunteers who worked tirelessly at the health centre during the Covid pandemic, while the Above and Beyond Award is given to an individual for their service to the community, going to to Sandra Brown in 2022.

This year's awards will be presented at Bridport Charter Fair at Mountfield on Saturday, May 20.

The Above and Beyond Award will be presented to Dr Jo Millar who, together with the late Jo O'Farrell, initiated the Living Tree Cancer Support Group in 2012, working tirelessly with and on behalf of the group ever since.

The Charter Fair Award will be received on behalf of the Refugee Support Community by Jim and Jenny Tigg in recognition of their own outstanding contribution.

The awards will be presented at approximately 10am following the re-introduced maypole dancing and crowning of the May Queen at 9.30am.

The fair will continue throughout the day until 3.30pm, with a varied and free programme of entertainment at both Mountfield and in Bucky Doo Square. Community stalls – well over 30 already booked – will be based at Mountfield.
