Bridport composer Matthew Coleridge is enjoying a wave of success with his new album featured as Classic FM's prestigious Album of the Week.

'Requiem' was released last week and features the renowned Choir of Royal Holloway, who chose to record the album in the glorious acoustics of Dorset's Christchurch Priory.

The album's immediate popularity has led to it being shortlisted for this year's Classic FM Hall of Fame, after it entered the classical album chart at number 12.

Classic FM host Alexander Armstrong described the album as "a revelation" and "profoundly moving", calling the composer "a great force for good in the choral world".

Matthew said: "It's been quite a week! I was dropping off my kids at school in Symondsbury when my phone started pinging with messages of congratulations. It took me a few minutes to discover that we had been chosen as Album of the Week!"

The annual Classic FM Hall of Fame is the largest poll of the world's favourite classical music, with listeners able to vote for their top three pieces of music.

You can vote for Matthew now by visiting https://halloffame.classicfm.com/2023/ and searching for Coleridge Requiem. Voting closes on Wednesday, March 22.

CDs of Matthew's album are available form Bridport Music Centre, Apple Music and Spotify and you can find further details at https://www.matthewcoleridge.com/
