By Lottie Welch 3rd Nov 2021

A Colfox student has 'Braved the Shave' and raised more than £1,400 for charity.

Jess St Barbe Baker has shaved her hair off in a bid to raise money Macmillan Cancer Support.

Jess, currently studying A levels, said: "Over the past few years I have watched family members deal with cancer in their lives and lost some very dear friends.

"I decided to donate the length of my hair to the Little Princess Trust. This is a fantastic charity which provides children with wigs, who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions."

Jess 'Braved the Shave' for Macmillan and has so far managed to raise more than £1,400 for charity.

Adam Teasdale, head of sixth form at the Sir John Colfox Academy, said: "We are all so proud of Jess. Her new look is quite extreme but she looks striking and her achievement is incredible. To raise just £100 for charity is incredible, but £1,400 is astonishing."

Jess added: "I have been overwhelmed with the support I have received over the last few weeks. Funnily, since having shaved my head, I feel liberated and strong."
