Police and environmental health officers have objected to a requested 4am extension for a Halloween event at the No 10 Café Bar in East Street, Bridport.

A similar application for the Neon bar in the same street was rejected by a licensing panel earlier this week.

Dorset Council say there is already an ongoing noise investigation into complaints about noise from No10 and extending the time from 2am to 4am is likely to make matters worse. Dorset Police have taken a similar stand in their objection to the application for October 30 and 31.

Sgt Gareth Gosling from the force drug and alcohol harm reduction team says that to allow the Temporary Event Notice would be likely to undermine licensing objectives to prevent crime and disorder.

The licence holder, Craig Horton, currently has a licence for the premises which allows it to open until 2am. His application says the event, on two nights, will each be limited to 60 people, including staff.

The application for the event notice is scheduled to be decided by a panel of Dorset councillors next Thursday, October 28, with an online hearing due to start at 10am.
