West Dorset MP Chris Loder objects to Parnham House application for 24 drinks licence

West Dorset MP Chris Loder has objected to an application for Parnham House to have a 24-hour alcohol licence.

The application for the Beaminster venue has received almost 100 objections and a hearing was due to be held today (Tuesday).

The owners want to "establish a sustainable future for the estate within the hospitality sector, where a wide variety of events and form of tourism accommodation will be available".

The application also states that "the estate will provide hotel facilities, cottages, wagons, cabins with facilities including a restaurant, estate shop and gardens. These facilities will provide a continuing source of revenue, with the preparation of Parnham House as an events centre".

Mr Loder said: "This is simply not appropriate to have a 24/7 rave venue in the West Dorset countryside. There could be many local residents affected by booming noise pollution all night if this goes ahead as a direct consequence of this licence."
