One woman's wardrobe, a chance to add vintage designer clothing and raise money to help single mothers, will be popping up in the town centre.

Before the former Bridport Yarn shop is transformed in Clocktower Too - a new CD and record store from Roy at Clocktower Music - pieces from Jaegar, Vivienne Westwood, Hobbs, Jigsaw, Jean Muir, Maxmara and more in sizes 12 to 18 and shoe sizes six to eight will be on sale.

The pop-up shop was the idea of Hester Schofield after her mother, Margot Schofield, died in February and left a "ridiculous clothing a shoe collection". There was around 1,000 items of clothing and 400 pairs of shoes.

Hester said: "She [Margot] had a link to Bridport via Winchester School of Art in the sixties and her friends, Ros and John Higgins, who came down to Bridport in the early 1970s were part of the art scene here. I came to live in Bridport eight years ago because my mum used to bring us here as kids to see her artists friends and I had fond childhood memories of Bridport.

"I didn't know what to do with all the stuff so my single parent friends and I started washing and ironing everything.

"Very aware how lockdown has impacted on single mothers, we thought profits from the sale of the clothes could go towards other single mothers in Bridport. Being a single parent in lockdown has been beyond difficult - being expected to maintain jobs, or lose them, then home-school our children simultaneously is an impossible task. A lot of women have not only lost wages but are exhausted from the experience.

"The shop is also designed to give women in Bridport a treat after lockdown. We'll be handing out free perfume, there's a bin of designer clothes that need a quick mend that will be free, the prices will be cheap so everyone can afford something and there are some real vintage treasures to be found for a bargain. There are some classic homeware items, curtains and bed linen too.

"Roy kindly offered his shop before he opens his new record shop."

The pop-up shop will open on Wednesday from 10am to 4pm, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 6pm and Saturday from 9am to 2pm.
