Members of the Bridport Refugee Support Campaign are holding a socially distanced garage sale in the hopes of raising as much money as possible for the charity.

There will be bargains on household and kitchen equipment, clothes, furniture, CDs and DVDs, chutneys, jams and more.

The garage sale will be held on Saturday December 5 and Sunday, December 6 from 10am to 2pm each day at 1Britlands, Skilling Hill Road, Bridport, DT6 5LA, just up the hill from the leisure centre.

It will be a socially distanced event, masks must be worn and a maximum of two couples at any time. To book a 15-minute time slot, text or call 07788 652375 and please bring cash to place in the honesty box.

Catherine Scott, organiser of the garage sale, said: "The campaign is really taking off now, we have achieved charity status, even during the Covid lockdown, and the virtual dinner organised by SeaFair was a great success.

"The campaign trustees have helped by looking out some of their treasures and have found wonderful things they are happy to give to the sale, so please come along and buy the fabulous things we have assembled. The garage looks like a real Aladdin's Cave."

Christmas cards of a painting created for the campaign by Hugh Dunford Wood have proved really popular, Footeprints has been asked to do two reprints, and they will be available at the sale.

All proceeds will go to Bridport Refugee Support Campaign, which is hoping to raise enough money to be able to welcome and resettle a refugee family in our community in Bridport.
