Students have come up with a wonderful way to go ahead with their carol service and allow family and friends to see it.

Both staff and students at Beaminster School have worked hard to create an online carol service with performances and readings, with a lot of it recorded in St Mary's Church.

Phil Jeffs, art, technology and music technician, said: "We had the idea of filming our Christmas concert originally, and after further discussion, our deputy headteacher, David Withers, pushed for us to make the full carol service. This has actually been a real challenge as we had to take apart the recording studio and take it to the church.

"I recorded the readings, sermons and all the performances, as well as the organ in the church, then we recorded the staff choir at school for the hymns to avoid taking too many to the church."

It was then edited back at the school, with two A-level photography students taking the stills.

A huge amount of work from students and staff, including head of music Andy Smith, went in to make this happen, as well as help from the Rev David Baldwin and organist Martin Schellenberg.
