Wessex Water is providing funding to projects in the Bridport area that help residents lower their bills, save water and protect rivers.

The water company has launched its Community Connectors project in Dorset, to co-ordinate activities and help to co-design improvements for the community and local environment, focusing on issues related to water supply and its social impact, waste water, and the environment.

Following a recent community workshop and collaboration with local residents and organisations, the two-year project will provide £50,000 worth of funding for local groups to deliver projects in Bridport that address local priorities and work towards shared outcomes.

Community Connectors is offering grants from between £1,000 to £5,000, with a possibility to also fund a small number of £10,000 projects in the area.

Projects must meet one of the following four goals:

  • To help people to lower their bills or provide better access to advice and support during the cost-of-living crisis
  • Help people to save water, understand the water cycle, and understand why it is a valuable resource
  • Raise awareness about what happens when rainwater and wastewater go down the drain, and help to change behaviour to prevent blockages
  • Protect and improve local rivers and waterways, as well as encouraging people in Bridport to care about their local environment

Applications close on March 3 2023.
