The team at Bridport Fire Station has said goodbye to colleague and friend Steve Bowles after 26 years of service.

The crew bid Steve a socially-distanced happy retirement with his wife, Sconie, and members of his family.

Steve joined Dorset Fire and Rescue Service on November 1, 1994 and turned his alerter off for the last time on August 27, 2020.

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "Steve was one of the 'old school' characters at the station with lots of experience and numerous stories to tell.

"We wish you good luck and a happy retirement from all of us at the Bridport station."
